I must update you what I have been up to lately more than getting some machines, please look at the nice fabrics I managed to get my hands on... I got a deadline the 17th April to produce as much Majo Vintage clothes because Scary Canary Vintage are opening their shop in Stourbridge, Birmingham. Hopefully I would be able to sell parts of my collection there! I got some more fabric and some lovely patterns to bring me some inspiration:

Kilbowie Singer Factory

I thought I would update you about what's going on lately in the Majo Vintage world. The other day my lovely partner Sean brought me a new extension to my sewing machines. He had found a Singer Sewing Machine 201K from 1938, complete with the table, sewing manual, extra bobbins, a buttonhole maker and a large leather sewing needle. It is wounderful.
I have done a search through the serial nbr and found out it was alloted 3rd of June 1938, from the factory Kilbowie, Clydebank Scotland. There was 30.000 alloted on that day and my baby was one of them!

You can read and take part of the history of Singer Sewing Machines;

"Singer's 201k was undoubtedly the pinnacle of Singer's quality machines. The 201 had arrived on the scene after nearly a century of evolution. It had the very best features of all Singer's models and a price-tag to match. It was their most expensive machine. There has never been a better Singer or perhaps a better sewing machine ever made than the 201k.
The 201has gone down in history as Singer's finest model. Although technology has moved on, quality has not. The model 201 simply represents the very best that Singer's could make and was built to last a lifetime. Even today many professional sewers seek out this elusive model as no new machine can come close to this beauty for reliability and stitch quality. "

As you might have known before I still have my beloved and beutiful turqouse Brother sewing machine that I was given by my friend Lizzie.

Then there is the dear Knitmaster which I finally managed to put together and it's now in a working order after I changed the needle retaining foam strip, that keeps the needles in control! I get all my accessories from Heathercrafts. Next to do on the list is to learn how to use different colours and get hold of punchcard so I can start knitting some patterns.

Learning the knitmaster

I had my first lesson today with Marion how to start the knitmaster. And yes, it was a lot to take in on the 2 hours lesson! I learned how to set up the machine, how to clean it (as it was very filthy) and oil it, then how to cast on. There is different ways of doing this, but I think I will get more to terms with it the more work I put into it. Then she thought me how to knit, how to decrease and increase and what to to if I drop some stiches, all very useful. End of lesson Marion went through how to cast of. I will have to get some more parts to get the machine work and then I will spend endless hours knitting.
